-
Friday starts from 4pm with strawberies & champagne on arrival, followed by yoga to get the body into our weekend rhythm. Dinner is served at 6pm, allowing time to get to bed early.
Saturday morning we don our packs and set off in the dark to hike Mt Barney. We’ll have an early lunch and an hour rest at the summit. After the 7-10 hours of hiking we will be ready for a feast and to relax. A delicious, nutrient-dense meal will be provided along with wine and chocolate.
Sunday is slow with optional stretching, foam rolling and breathwork or simply sitting with a coffee on the deck. Then a delicious breakfast that will inspire healthy nutrition long after the retreat is over. We say goodbye at 9am to ensure we’re home for the usual Sunday afternoon week prep.

Mt Barney is challenging. You cannot attempt this without preparation.
You will need to have completed at least 2 × 15km hikes plus strength training prior to the retreat.
It will take 7-10 hours to complete the hike, at a steady pace.
Join me for practice hikes in Toowoomba 21 September 7am at Picnic Point flagpole. I also recommend coming along to the Hike for Homeless 18 October at Jubilee!

We will take the South (Peasants) Ridge route up and back. It begins with 5km of fire trail, then begins to climb. The most challenging part of this hike is one section of scrambling on rock. Downhill has loose rocks, so wear shoes with the best grip you can find! Some hikers find poles helpful.
I’ve broken the hike into three levels, so you can end where you prefer.
Level 1 - Stop before the rock scramble and wait for the return of the others.
Level 2 - Stop at Rum Jungle, a beautiful rest spot at the edge of the tree line, before the exposed rocky summit. Lunch stop here for 40min.
Level 3 - Reach the summit. This last part has no trail, just northward climbing over boulders until the peak is reached. It will take 1-2hours to climb up and back.
-
We're prepared for every weather scenario! Light rain means we'll trek to Mt Barney’s Level 1 (see previous question - before any scrambling occurs). Breakfast will be provided and hiking through misty mountain air is magical.
Heavy rain transforms our rustic lodge into a wellness sanctuary with energising yoga, hands-on kombucha making, boxing, Pilates, pottery, journaling workshop, and plenty of relaxation time.
-
We have private and shared accommodation at this retreat. Sharing is cheaper and is an opportunity to make new friends. If you don’t wish to share a room with someone you don’t know yet, then book a private room.
There are three private rooms with double beds.
The other three rooms each hold two single beds.
Take a look at the virtual tour, keeping in mind this only shows the upstairs accommodation.
-
Friday dinner, Saturday hike lunch wrap, Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast.
Friday dinner is served at 6pm, allowing for an early night in preparation for an early start the following morning.
Saturday we start trekking early with rest/snack breaks every few hours. You'll need to bring your own hiking snacks - pack whatever works best for you, such as protein bars and electrolytes. A substantial wrap will be provided for lunch.
Saturday dinner is a hearty feast with wine and chocolate. Food is always one of the highlights of the retreat for all our guests!
Sunday morning coffee and breakfast are provided before checkout at 9am.
All dietary requirements are easily accommodated. All food is gluten and dairy free, with vegetarian options available.
-
Yes, alcohol is provided at both dinners. We are a bit partial to a glass of wine as we watch the sunset!
-
We love our kids here at Vita Body and understand that they’re a huge part of many people’s journeys! However, in the interest of managing our community, we do need to advise that our retreats are designed for ages 16 years and over. Therefore, children of any age under 16 are not permitted to be present.
-
There is no WiFi available over the entire property. We highly encourage devices to be turned off for the 3 days, to fully escape and reset yourself.
-
Friday check-in is available from 4pm, perfect for fitting in a half work day and arriving relaxed and ready to unwind.
Sunday check-out is at 9am, after a nourishing breakfast and optional stretch, foam rolling and breathwork session - leaving you refreshed and energised for the week ahead.
-

Your favorite hiking snacks - whatever fuels you best
4L water and electrolytes (I love powerade powder)
Long sleeve shirt over a singlet (perfect for the cool morning and the summit)
Yoga clothes (for Friday and Sunday sessions)
Swimmers & towel
